The 2024 National Girls in ICT Competition is now accepting applications, offering a unique opportunity for young women in Nigeria’s secondary schools to demonstrate their capabilities in information and communications technology (ICT). Spearheaded by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, this competition aims to diminish the gender disparities within the ICT sector, encouraging young women to engage and excel in this evolving field.
Participants will benefit from an enriching experience that allows them to:
- Enhance their ICT skills, including coding, programming, web development, cybersecurity, and data analytics.
- Earn recognition and support from key players in the government, academia, and the tech industry.
- Connect with like-minded individuals and professionals through workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
Participation Guidelines:
To join the competition, follow these steps:
- Registration: Access the competition’s registration portal and sign up.
- Team Formation: Create a team with your peers, facilitated by your educators.
- Problem-Solving: Identify a community issue and design a technological solution.
- Training: Engage in a comprehensive 5-day training session provided across various states to sharpen your tech skills.
- Regional Showdown: Compete at the regional level to secure a spot in the national competition.
- Virtual Pitch: Present your solution through a virtual pitch to a panel of esteemed judges.
Rewards for Participation:
- Stage 1 Participants: Will receive an E-Certificate and guidance on establishing ICT clubs for girls.
- Stage 2 Participants: Will be acknowledged with certificates and granted access to valuable online learning resources.
- Stage 3 Participants: Winners will be rewarded with scholarships, laptops, trophies, and certificates, recognizing their achievements.
